They call me MS. NOT QUITE FIRST YEAR

Let's get to know each other AKA a random meet

About me - Paige524 / Paige

I live in California with my husband, Richard and our dog, Johnny. We both grew up here and live near our family (And wouldn’t want it any other way… even when they’re driving us nuts! lol) I’m especially close to my sister.
I enjoy coffee, photography, reading, listening to music (either to dance to, or that’s just pretty!), walking/hiking, biking, playing with my little baby niece, and of course crocheting!
Things I’m a Fan of (in no particular order): Harry Potter, Twilight, Dr. Pepper, things that are sparkly/shiney, wine, Once Upon A Time (the TV show), boots, Shannon K. Butcher and her husband Jim, Glee, The Sims, WoW, and my Kindle.

About me - CatMousehold / Cat

I’m the child of an avid knitter and crocheter. I came to crocheting recently when wrestling with some mental messages recorded and stored in my brain for years. I struggle with my creativity and feedback as related to such, so routing out negative feedback is something I try to do consciously and with intent. When I was young, whenever I tried to get my Mum to teach me to knit or crochet, she was pretty tough on me, I surmise perhaps, she didn’t want competition in her chosen creative outlet (I got a similar negativity when I thought of going into her chosen profession of nursing…whoo boy!) The “recording” that stuck in my head was “Tension C! Watch your tension!” and not much else of any encouragement that I recall.
I have a group of very close friends who are all into yarn crafts of some sort and even in that atmosphere I was never very inclined to pick up the skills. Until recently. I had a friend over for a few days, and as we sat chatting she crocheted. As I watched her I remembered some of the basics to crochet and was struck by the urge to try, as well as challenge that voice. This inspired me to get some materials and give it a shot and I’ve been a busy bee ever since.
As with most things I get into, I jumped in with both feet, so I now have a rather large stash and several projects on the go!
I’m having a blast with this! What a sense of accomplishment when I get something done :) And I’m enjoying an added layer of fellowship with my friends who play with yarn! And I have to add, that I’m meeting some very lovely people here in Ravelry!

About me - STARRYNIGHTSKY / Janet

I love lace knitting and I’m starting to design my own lace scarves. These are basic, mostly just a pattern from a stitch dictionary I like with garter stitch borders. But I am beginning to change the stitch pattern a little, and I’m looking at some of the big lace designers to see what they do. Interesting stuff. My goal is to give away/sell the scarves and move into designing lace shawls.

Things I want to learn to do:
  1. Combination knitting
  2. Color work
  3. Toe-up socks
  4. Top-down hats
  5. Top-down sweaters.
By day, I’m a reference librarian at my local public library.
“Google can bring back a hundred thousand answers. A librarian can bring you back the right one.” Neil Gaiman

I’m completely wrapped up with the Harry Potter Knitting/Crochet House Cup and my badges from there are posted as ravatars.

About me - MAINEKNITTER1975 / Jen

The shop is growing nicely, but as of yet no sales. Hoping to get about 50 items in there by the end of March. And, another 50 by the end of April, making a total of 100 items. That’s my goal, we will see what happens though.

That wraps us this weeks blog for me :D  I hope you all learned two things;
1.  How fun is it to get to know each other
2.  Be careful what you post, someone might re-post it!  LOL :D
